Desmond Wade (5’8 PG, Linden, NJ) will continue his professional basketball as the starting point guard of the Lake Michigan Admirals of the PBL (Premier Basketball League) for the 2014 season. The Admirals also made a major change on the bench as they signed Jon Solomon as their head coach. Solomon has a distinction of being the first and only coach in league history that doubles as a FIBA Certified Agent as well. The Admirals also boast an experienced and dedicated Team Owner in Chris Glisson. In just the past two years Glisson and the Admirals have been responsible for more than 40 players career advance their careers overseas.
Though a capable scorer, Wade is best known as a highly effective and efficient facilitator and an unflappable leader–two qualities any team can’t get enough of. As a testament to his headiness, Desmond was named the 2013 iBall Pro Combine All Basketball IQ Player as the Top Decision Maker in the tournament. He was also 2nd in assists and shot 57% from the 3-point line.
The former Fairfield University Stag (NCAA D1) also recently played in the ABA for the New Jersey Express (ABA Us-Pro). During his senior campaign at Fairfield, Desmond averaged 3.5 assists per game and led the team to an NCAA Tournament berth. In 2012, he was 43rd in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2). Wade began his NCAA career at the University of Houston (NCAA D1), and as a sophomore, he averaged a whopping 4.7 assists per game.
