iBall MVP Derek Hall Signs with Marso NYKK (Hungary)

derek_hall_signs_in_hungaryAfter graduating from Albright in 2012, and remaining unsigned for the 2012-13 season, Derek Hall took the 2014 free agency market by storm and landed his first professional contract in Hungary with Marso NYKK.

The 7’0” Forward / Center from Northampton, PA started his path to success by claiming the Tournament Championship and MVP Award at the 2013 iBall Pro Combine last June.  Derek dominated, leading all combine players in 12 statistical categories. He logged a 23.7 value average (#1 overall) and was tenacious on both offensive and defensive glass averaging a tourney-high 10.3 rebounds per game (#1 overall).  Many coaches commented on his great attitude and he was perceived as one of the most coachable players at camp.

Derek’s MVP award earned him a spot on the Self Motivated Athletic Agency (SMAA) European Multi-Country Tour Team.  On tour, Derek catapulted his team to an undefeated record and was offered a 15-day tryout with Marso NYKK in Hungary.  After breaking through with double-doubles in each of his first three outings, Derek ‘sealed the deal’ gaining a contract extension for the remainder of the 2013-14 season.

The SMAA Travel team and ultimately, Derek’s golden opportunity was orchestrated by  CEO, Jon Solomon, who also had a super busy, and super-er productive summer.

Jon obtained his FIBA license just days before joining iBall Pro Combine for an invaluable contribution of scouting and coaching.   Less than a month after the combine, Solomon embarked on the NBA Legends Tour to China where he led ‘the Lebron James of China’, Tracy McGrady, Aquille Carr, Bonzi Wells, former NBA greats Gary Payton, Jason Williams and more.  Read more about Derek’s signing on the Albright website
